How is the carbon footprint of each of my purchases calculated?

In the methodology proposed by ADEME, there are two ways of calculating the carbon impact of a product: the Cradle-to-gate method, which calculates all the carbon emissions from the extraction of resources to the manufacture of a product.

The Cradle-to-Grave method, which takes into account the entire life of the product, from its manufacture to the estimated end of its life, by calculating the carbon expenditure for each use. The Cradle-to-grave impact is the one we indicate as it is more accurate, but it is not always available for all products. In these cases at the margin, we indicate the Cradle-to-gate impact.

To calculate the carbon emissions with the Cradle-to-gate impact, we use a mathematical formula: monetary emission factors.

A coefficient in kilos of CO2/euro is established: it allows the carbon footprint of a product to be calculated according to its price. Tables, set up by ADEME, give coefficients for each industry and each type of product, thanks to prior calculations of the average emissions from the manufacture of these products.

How can I view my latest purchases in a certain year?

To view your most recent purchases for the year, go to the "Understanding" tab, select the year you wish to view at the top right, click on the different categories and the most recent purchases appear at the top of the page. The further down you scroll, the older the purchases displayed.

How can I hide a purchase from my overall carbon footprint?

To hide your purchase, in the "Understand" tab, select the year in which the purchase was made at the top right, click on the category in which it was listed, click on the product. The detailed product sheet appears. At the bottom of this sheet, click on the "Hide this purchase" button so that it no longer appears in your total purchases and its carbon emission is no longer counted in your total.

No purchase is detected in my mailbox

Greenfox displays the purchases made on the ecommerce site and saved in your mailbox. Please ensure that you have synchronised the email address with which you made your purchases on Greenfox. However, if no purchases are detected, do not hesitate to contact technical support at contact@greenfoxapp.com in order to help you solve this problem.
Security and privacy

What is the purpose of 2-step authentication?

Greenfox has chosen to guarantee a higher level of privacy. To ensure the security of our users we have strengthened our account verification.

We have therefore added a few steps during your registration. The advantage for you is that your account is more secure. Indeed, the two-step authentication allows you not to have to communicate your mailbox password to us.

To securely connect your mailbox to Greenfox, you will need to create a unique password, called an application password, which will allow Greenfox to access your emails to sort without knowing your personal password.

I would like to download my data held by Greenfox

Under the RGPD regulation, all Greenfox users can exercise their right to portability, offering the possibility to retrieve part of their data in an open and machine-readable format. How is the data collected by Greenfox used?

Our anonymised statistics are designed for companies that want to know more about their business, their markets or their competitors.

Three examples of application: Determining market share: We are able to deduce the market share of companies in their sector from order confirmations alone.

Determining customer loyalty: We provide companies with insight into who their competitors are ordering from.  This allows them to measure the loyalty of their customers to their brand. Determine the sensitivity to a promotion: We are able to determine the impact of a promotion on the number of orders.

We have chosen never to use data for advertising purposes.  At Greenfox, we always give our users a choice. If you do not want us to use your data for statistical purposes, you can opt out of the Foxintelligence anonymised panel. To do this, go to your Settings, Your mailboxes, Foxintelligence panel.

Can Greenfox read my emails?

In our automated transactional data processing, all personal emails are ignored and excluded from access by our systems. The extraction of transactional data is performed by algorithms (regex type). These algorithms know exactly which order confirmation sender to look for (e.g., confirmation-commande@amazon.fr) and cannot extract any unexpected data. This data is non-personal, anonymised and has only one purpose: to be aggregated for e-commerce market research. Our business is based on the fundamental principles of never harming our users, never passing on or exploiting their personal data and never feeding the advertising industry (audience, targeting cookies, etc.). Finally, we make it a point of honour to be transparent with our users (based on clear consent).

I would like to delete my Greenfox Account?

To delete your account and all the data associated with it, here is how to proceed:

How does Greenfox connect to my mailbox?

To connect, we use the IMAP protocol and the application password.

Why does my email service warn me that someone is using IMAP from another location?

We use IMAP to connect to your mailbox - no stress, everything is perfectly normal!

Our servers are located in Germany, so it is normal that you will receive this type of email when we scan your mailbox.
