About Greenfox
Who are we?
Greenfox is an application that allows you to take control of your consumption, thanks to better visibility of your budget, your purchases and your carbon footprint.
Greenfox is a product developed by Foxintelligence. We specialize in researching the e-commerce market. We provide the data for the purpose of statistical research on e-commerce.
How does this work?
The operation of Greenfox is very simple. To create an account, you connect to your mailbox. Our algorithm scans your mailbox and detects order confirmations. In this way, we give you the list of all the purchases you have made in recent years and you can thereby analyze your consumption habits and your carbon footprint.
How do we get paid?
We produce and market data for statistical research. We neither sell nor transfer any data for targeted advertising, re-identification or profiling purposes.

How can I create a Greenfox account with a Gmail address?
3 steps are necessary; they are explained in detail in the Greenfox application. We recommend you to follow them directly from your application. In case of a problem, we have summarized the steps below:
Step 1: Enable 2-Step Verification
Follow the steps displayed on your screen. Log in to your Google account: you will be redirected to the two-step verification settings. If you haven't already provided a phone number, you will be asked to provide one; note the code received by SMS. This verification can also be done via a notification to be validated on your mobile devices. Once this step is completed, click on "Enable two-step verification". Note: if you have already activated two-step verification for your Google account, the SMS or notification will be sent directly to you.
Step 2: Create an application password and activate the imap protocol automatically
Once the two-step validation has been activated, you will be asked to connect to your Google account again. This will enable the last 2 steps to be initiated automatically: the creation of an application password and the activation of the IMAP protocol. This could take a few minutes: wait on the appropriate screen.
Once these two steps have been carried out, the connection is activated: you must only give your name and date of birth to complete the connection.

How can I create a Greenfox account with a Microsoft mail account (Hotmail, Outlook)?

Note: if you have already activated the validation in two steps for your Microsoft account, the verification code will be sent to you directly by SMS, email or you can access it on your Microsoft Authenticator app.
Step 2: Create an application password automatically

The scan is running in a loop
When you use Greenfox for the first time, we will scan your entire mailbox to find emails on order confirmations. Sometimes this step may take longer than expected if your mailbox has a large number of emails. In this case, you can request our technical teams to forcibly end the scan to start looking at the first listed purchases without waiting. The scan will be completed in the subsequent days.
Send an email to:
contact@greenfoxapp.com and we will reply as soon as possible.
Note that it takes on average 30 minutes to 2 hours to complete the scan.

How is the carbon footprint on the products calculated?
We use the calculation method of ADEME that is an agency of the Ministry of Ecological Transition. It provides a public database in which we can find data to calculate the carbon footprint of each category of product. Thus, for each type of product, a coefficient in kilograms of CO2/ euro allows its carbon footprint to be calculated.
Let's take the example of a clothing item. The steps that ADEME takes into consideration to calculate the coefficient of the footprint are as follows:
- The production of the textile raw material
- Electricity consumed during the forming process.
- Steam consumed during the forming process (finishing steps)
- Transportation by air or truck (at the time of procurement, forming or distribution)
- Usage (electricity and/or detergent) for products with 30 or 50 maintenance cycles.
